About Dr. Vaidehi Shah
Born and raised in India, Dr. Shah completed her Pediatric Residency from Texas Tech University, El Paso. She has been practicing Pediatrics in Ashburn, Chantilly and Gainesville area since 2014. Dr. Vaidehi Shah enjoys participating in community activities that help educate parents and children. She received “Best Community Service” award during her residency. She lives with the vision to serve the community. Dr. Shah took an initiative to start her own practice Akshar Pediatrics in Gainesville area, with values that truly reflects her morale.
Dr. Vaidehi Shah has wide experience in diagnosing and managing varied Pediatric conditions which includes but not limited to various newborn health issues, breastfeeding concerns, asthma, allergies, ADHD, autism and other behavioral problems, skin issues, GI issues and orthopedic problems. She has been actively conducting newborn rounds at hospitals such as INOVA Fair Oaks, NOVANT UVA Haymarket and Prince William hospital, Manassas.
Dr. Shah practices preventive and evidence based medicine.
She is loved by all her patients and has always been acknowledged and recognized for her excellent bedside manners and listening to parental concerns.
Dr. Vaidehi Shah speaks English, Gujarati, Hindi and basic Spanish.
About Lauren Schaaf
Originally born in New York and then primarily raised in Minnesota, Lauren came to Virginia for college at Christopher Newport University where she earned her undergraduate degree of a BS in Neuroscience.
She has since remained in Virginia for her Masters degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Radford University Carilion.
Since graduation, she practiced almost 2 years at an Internal Medicine and Pediatric Clinic before joining Akshar Pediatrics to work solely with children.
Lauren loves working and forming relationships with children and their families. She utilizes an evidence based medicine and shared medical decision making to provide care for each individual.
About Zaineb Awan
Zaineb Awan, PA-C, is a board-certified Physician Assistant who earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Pittsburgh and graduated Magna Cum Laude from George Mason University with a degree in Life Sciences.
Zaineb is passionate about providing compassionate, family-centered pediatric care and building meaningful relationships with children and their families. She values patient education and believes in partnering with parents to support each child's health, growth, and development through personalized, evidence-based care.
She lives in Northern Virginia with her husband and three children. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, hiking, exploring new restaurants and coffee shops, and spending quality time with her family.
